Arsenal ‘maintaining interest’ in Noni Madueke — reports

Chelsea are about to sign João Pedro from Brighton & Hove Albion, then probably sign Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund, too, which would leave us with approximately six thousands wingers and forwards in and around the squad.

And while we would be okay with that apparently, as claimed by the Telegraph — we’re no strangers to hoarding after all — ideally we’d like to trim the squad, and the wage bill, and maybe get some cash flowing in as well.

So perhaps it’s no coincidence that in the wake of the João Pedro news, we have a renewed round of Noni Madueke exit rumors, with Arsenal supposedly “maintaining interest” in the 23-year-old winger. A few reports have gone above and beyond that, claiming that an offer has been made and talks are underway, but we’re probably not that far along in this potential situation. Newcastle United have also been credited with passing interest, especially after losing out on João Pedro.

The Telegraph surmises that we’d want at least £50m for Madueke, who arrived from PSV in January 2023, and has made 90 appearances in the two and a half years since, scoring 20 goals. That’s certainly not a terrible return from the wing, though Madueke has fallen behind Pedro Neto in the pecking order in recent months.

Chelsea want as many as nine attackers in their first-team squad last season. There could still be room for more additions if players leave and Arsenal maintain an interest in Madueke #cfc #afchttps://t.co/3e6mIrgzN7
