Dennis Schroder had a bit of a chaotic season last year, but he’s found some stability in the free agency market. Schroder agreed to a three-year, $45 million deal with the Kings, per ESPN’s Shams Charania, as he gets to cash out after a productive season.
Schroder started last season on the Nets where he put up solid numbers. It was enough for him to land with the Warriors in December 2024. But by the February trade deadline, Schroder was once again on the move to the Pistons in the five-team Jimmy Butler trade.
Schroder ended up being exactly what the Pistons needed down the stretch as a secondary ball-handler alongside All-NBA guard Cade Cunningham. The former Celtics guard also had a stellar playoff run, knocking down big shots for Detroit in the first round against the Knicks. That helped Schroder end up with a nice payday for his services, getting it from the Kings.
While he’s entering his 13th season in the NBA, Schroder has been well-traveled over the second part of his career. He played the first five years of his career in Atlanta, getting drafted 17th overall in 2013, but since then, he’s bounced around the league.
Schroder has in total played 842 career games with the Hawks, Thunder, Lakers, Celtics, Rockets, Raptors, Nets, Warriors and Pistons. The Kings will be his 10th organization he’s played for, so he’s still a few short of Ish Smith, who has played for 13 different teams.
