The Boston Bruins are adding muscle to their forward group as they reshape their roster.
Boston signed free agent winger Tanner Jeannot to a five-year, $17 million contract on Tuesday. Elliotte Friedman of Sportsnet first reported the signing on social media.
The 28-year-old brings a physical edge to the bottom six and is expected to be ready for training camp after missing the end of last season with a groin injury.
Jeannot appeared in 67 games for the Los Angeles Kings during the 2024-25 season, contributing seven goals, 13 points, 89 penalty minutes, and 211 hits before landing on the shelf in late March. The Bruins are betting on that edge as they turn the page on the Patrice Bergeron and Brad Marchand era.
Jeannot’s new deal marks a raise from the two-year, $5.33 million pact he signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in July 2023. That contract followed a high-profile trade from the Nashville Predators, who sent Jeannot to Tampa ahead of the 2023 NHL Trade Deadline in exchange for defenseman Cal Foote and a package of draft picks, including a conditional 2025 first-rounder.

After just over a year with the Lightning, Jeannot was flipped to the Kings in June 2024. He now heads to Boston with five seasons of NHL experience and 294 games under his belt, having tallied 93 points (49 goals, 44 assists) with Nashville, Tampa Bay, and Los Angeles.
The Bruins are clearly placing a premium on grit and durability as they continue shaping the roster for the next phase of their competitive window.
