'Agreed deal': Fabrizio Romano delivers another frustrating update for Everton, after Kenny…

Everton fans are starting to get a little frantic over the lack of transfer activity.

It has been a summer of departures so far for the Toffees, with Dominic Calvert-Lewin the latest to announce his exit from Everton.

Just the one signing has been made so far.

Although fans feel it doesn’t really count, with Carlos Alcaraz having already been here on loan.

Undoubtedly, Everton now need to get a move on, with pre-season not far off. In an ideal world, new faces will be through the door for the start, so that they can settle nice and early.

David Moyes is in the market for new wingers at the moment.

And one player who Everton have looked at is Malick Fofana.

However, there has been an update this evening which puts the Toffees on the back foot.

Everton need new wingers after allowing Jesper Lindstrom and Jack Harrison to go back to their parent clubs after their loan spells.

It was the right decision not to keep either player.

But Everton must now spring into action.

And if Fofana is still a target, the time is now really of the essence for Moyes.

That’s because Fabrizio Romano has delivered a big update on the player this evening that Nottingham Forest have seen a bid accepted.

He said: “Nottingham Forest have agreed deal with Olympique Lyon for Malick Fofana… but no agreement yet on player side.

“Fofana, waiting for Champions League clubs with Chelsea still keen on the player. Understand Bayern and Napoli have also called to make initial approach.”

It is the second piece of bad news from Romano in as many days, after he reported Fulham were confident of keeping Kenny Tete.

Tete had been set to join Everton, but Fulham then improved the contract terms they were offering.

Everton surely won’t sign Fofana

Even though the ‘explosive’ Fofana (BTL) has not yet agreed personal terms with Forest, the chances of Everton coming in at this point and signing the player feel slim.

Romano states that Fofana is waiting for Champions League clubs to come in for him.

Obviously, Everton can’t offer Champions League football, which may make any approach for him a non-starter.

Although Forest haven’t got the green light from the player yet, they can at least offer Conference League football.

So Everton are massively up against it in this particular transfer race, which frustratingly seems to be the case with most targets at the moment.
