Randy Moss is expected to be back on “Sunday NFL Countdown” full time this upcoming season, ESPN confirmed to The Athletic’s Andrew Marchand, after he was diagnosed with cancer in 2024.
“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason," the network told The Athletic.
The Hall of Fame wide receiver stepped away from his analyst role after he revealed his diagnosis.
Moss, who joined ESPN as an analyst in 2016, announced in December that he was a cancer survivor after he underwent major surgery.
In an Instagram video, he told viewers doctors found a cancerous mass in his bile duct — which is between his pancreas and his liver. Moss underwent a procedure to have a stent placed in his liver and then underwent a six-hour surgery.
Moss made a brief return to the desk for Super Bowl LIX. He was welcomed back with a video montage people wishing him well, including his former New England Patriots teammate Tom Brady and former coach Bill Belichick.
“Y’all already know it’s the big cry baby. It’s been hard,” Moss said. “But I’ve got a lot of love and a lot of people believing in me.”
Moss spent four seasons with the New England Patriots and is a six-time Pro Bowler, has four First-team All-Pro selections and was enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2018.
