In a surprising break from party ranks, Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has come out swinging against the state’s $600 million funding plan for the Cleveland Browns’ new covered stadium, surprising the crew on the Today in Ohio podcast.

Podcast host Lisa Garvin detailed Yost’s opposition to using Ohio’s unclaimed property fund as the financing mechanism for the Browns’ Brook Park stadium project. “He says, ‘I oppose the funding mechanism and its intent,’” Garvin quoted from Yost’s statement, adding that the Attorney General argued “Ohio taxpayers can’t be left on the sidelines while the wealthiest score with public money.”
