Report: What John Stones has now ‘said’ about potentially leaving Man City for Everton

Everton’s summer transfer window is yet to really get off the ground so far.

David Moyes will now want to see the recruitment staff get to work as the club now enters July and the summer preparations ramp up.

Angus Kinnear and Everton has waited for the new PSR window to open this month before they dive into the market.

However, there is a stunning amount of work needing to be done on Merseyside to get the Everton squad to where Moyes would like it.

Everton would like to strengthen their defence, along with other positions around the pitch.

One player of interest is Manchester City’s John Stones, and the England international’s stance on a potential summer move has now been shared.

John Stones shares stance on possible Everton transfer

Everton are showing interest in Stones but it is a deal which would require the defender to forfeit Champions League football.

If Stones was to become available for sale this summer, there is no doubt the 31-year-old would be in high demand across Europe.

According to The Athletic, Stones is fully intending on playing his football at the Etihad Stadium next season.

It has been a difficult couple of years for the defender when it comes to injuries, but his quality is there for all to see when he takes to the pitch.

Although Guardiola has been contemplating Stones’ future, it now looks as if the defender will remain a City player for the 2025/26 campaign.

It is believed Moyes is a big fan of Stones, but other defensive additions are now likely going to be explored this summer.

Everton closing on new Jarrad Branthwaite contract

Although adding an experienced defender like Stones would be a great addition for the Toffees, Moyes already has some quality options.

Everton are in talks with Jarrad Branthwaite over a new deal to keep him on Merseyside for the coming years.

Keeping Branthwaite is arguably as good as a new signing for Everton.

With Jake O’Brien also at Moyes’ disposal, it already looks as if the starting centre-back partnership of Branthwaite and James Tarkowski is set.
