Fabrizio Romano revealed that Manchester United will stand firm on the valuation of Marcus Rashford amid his return from Aston Villa. The Italian journalist also highlighted that the club are working hard to find a solution for all the surplus players.
The surplus list also includes Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, and Antony, who are available for a permanent departure from United. Apart from Rashford, United bought the rest of the players, while Garnacho incurred a small fee as an academy youngster.
Rashford’s sale has the potential for the club to make a pure profit, helping ease their financial situation this summer. Furthermore, the Red Devils need to sell players before buying new players to bolster the team and help Ruben Amorim.

Fabrizio Romano revealed Manchester United are sticking to their valuation of Marcus Rashford as he officially returns from Aston Villa.
United have splashed the cash on signing Matheus Cunha and are doing the same as they negotiate for Bryan Mbeumo. At the same time, United needs to react quickly as clubs negotiate harder during the latter stages of the window.
Until now, Amorim has prioritised the attacking department, and he would need to shift his attention to the other positions. Last season, the Red Devils showed vulnerabilities in all the phases of the game as they plummeted to 15th position.
Speaking on his YouTube channel, Romano revealed that United are demanding £40m for Rashford after he officially returned from Villa. He said:
“Marcus Rashford returns to Manchester United from Aston Villa, it’s now official. Aston Villa don’t take the £40m clause for Marcus Rashford. But that £40m remains the transfer fee wanted by United for any club in the world to sell Marcus Rashford in the summer. So let’s see what’s gonna happen there, but for Rashford, the price remains clear. United, for Rashford, for Sancho, for Garnacho, they are trying to find solutions this summer”
Rashford’s astronomical wages are another big obstacle for any potential suitor to surpass to sign him permanently. The 27-year-old showed signs of rejuvenation during his loan spell at Villa until an unfortunate injury ended his season. However, it is either Villa’s financial issues or the immovable stance from United over Rashford’s price tag that ended in their rejection of any permanent deal.

United could still capitalise on his display at the latter stages of the season, as the Englishman is still in the prime of his career. Rest assured, a swift departure is mutually beneficial for all parties involved, as Amorim implements his plan.
