Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are the latest club to be linked with forward Marcus Rashford, who is expected to leave Manchester United this summer.
According to German outlet Sport Bild, the Bavarians have the 27-year-old on their long list of targets for the left-wing role.
However, he is behind Bradley Barcola, Nico Williams, Rafael Leao, and Luis Diaz.
Bayern had strongly considered a move for Williams, but the Spanish forward has now agreed personal terms with Barcelona.
A move for Barcola, Leao, and Diaz would also be expensive, making it likely that they could advance their interest in Rashford.
United have priced the versatile forward at £40 million. The club hope to use the proceeds from his sale to sign their transfer targets.
Rashford’s priority is to join Barcelona, but the Spanish giants want him on loan, given their financial struggles.
Newcastle United also want him on loan, but they are more interested in securing a deal for Nottingham Forest’s Antony Elanga.
Bayern can become the front-runners for Rashford’s signature if they are ready to pay his valuation. They must also convince him that a move to the Allianz Arena is best for him.
The England international wants to play in the Champions League next season – a competition Bayern have qualified for.
However, he also needs regular game time due to his aspiration to play at next year’s World Cup.
If he joined Bayern, Rashford would face competition from Serge Gnabry and Kingsley Coman for the left wing role.
He is also unlikely to play as a centre-forward with international team-mate Harry Kane being the club’s first-choice striker.
Given his aspirations, the United academy graduate would only consider joining Vincent Kompany’s side if he is guaranteed regular playing time.
Unless he secures a move elsewhere in the coming days, ‘he intends to report with the majority of United’s squad for the start of pre-season training’ next week.
