Manchester United are reportedly ‘willing to pay the release clause’ for one star this summer as they consider their next moves after Bryan Mbeumo.
When entering the summer transfer window, it was clear that Manchester United’s main priority was strengthening the attack and Matheus Cunha was the first addition.
Cunha, 26, scored 15 goals in the Premier League last season and is expected to be a crucial player at Old Trafford going forward.
The Reds are now looking to sign Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford, and those two signings would help improve Ruben Amorim’s frontline significantly.
Afterwards, United are going to try and sign a striker and midfielder but need to make sales first, and there are several different options being considered for both positions.
United willing to pay Ndidi release clause
In the midfield, United are considering some big names such as Adam Wharton, although those kind of deals will cost a significant amount.
There are also low-cost options, including Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who has a £9 million release clause active after the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League.
According to a new report from Fichajes, United are willing to pay that release clause to sign the Nigerian midfielder this summer. He is viewed as an affordable signing who is already proven in England’s top flight.
Ndidi was one of United’s top midfield targets several years ago when Ole Gunnar Solskjær was in charge but he would now fill a squad role instead of being an instant starter.
Clarification over potential United striker signing
Meanwhile, in terms of the striker targets, further clarification over the situation has been explained by The Athletic in their recent reports.
After revealing that Ollie Watkins is a potential option, the outlet warned that a striker signing is not a guarantee at Old Trafford this summer if outgoings are insufficient.

Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Jadon Sancho are all players up for sale but as things stand, there is no significant movement for a permanent exit for any of them.
Unless that changes, United might have to opt for another cost-efficient signing in that position as well, which will concern supporters who were expecting another significant addition like Viktor Gyokeres.
