Man Utd now want to beat Al-Nassr to 3x top-flight league winner

Manchester United want to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabian Ruiz during the ongoing summer transfer window, according to French outlet Foot Mercato.

The Red Devils want to strengthen in the middle of the park ahead of next season, and the Spain international has emerged as a target.

However, Man United will face competition from Al-Nassr and several other clubs for the services of the 29-year-old, and they will need a very convincing bid to tempt both Ruiz and PSG into agreeing a deal.

The French club won the Champions League in style last season and are looking to defend it next term, which is why selling such an important player is not in their plans despite his current deal expiring in 2027.

Man United will not be playing in Europe next season following an underwhelming campaign in 2024-25, and it is hard to see the Spaniard accepting their proposal to spend 2025-26 without continental football.

Ruiz also ended last term with his third Ligue 1 title in as many seasons at the Parc des Princes club, and the Red Devils are unlikely to be very attractive to him right now after finishing 15th in the last Premier League campaign.

The long-term Man United target ended last season with six goals and 11 assists in 58 games, and such a player in the midfield would be huge for head coach Ruben Amorim.

“He can still improve, like everyone else,” PSG manager Luis Enrique once said about Ruiz.

“He always plays hard, he’s always ready to play a minute or 90, he’s very important for us. I’m very happy with his performances. He’s sometimes been criticized, but he’s one of my best midfielders.

“He knows how to play around his teammates. He can make assists, play between the lines, play without the ball, create chances, he has a good shot.”

Enrique is not looking forward to losing a key cog in his team anytime soon, and it is safe to say the Red Devils do not have any chance of luring him to Old Trafford this summer.
