Rangers are in talks with Chelsea over a potential loan deal for teenage defender Ishe Samuels-Smith , according to a report.

Russell Martin has made his first signing as Gers boss with the loan capture of Bournemouth right back Max Aarons and his club teammate, midfielder Joe Rothwell is also poised to complete a permanent switch to Ibrox.

Record Sport has also revealed that England international Conor Coady is also on the brink of a move from Leicester and football.london claim that Martin and sporting director Kevin Thelwell now have their eye on Stamford Bridge prospect Samuels-Smith.

They claim that the Premier League giants are hoping to send the 19-year-old left back out on loan this summer to pick up valuable minutes and that talks have taken place with Rangers.

EFL Championship trio Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Stoke are also said to be keen on signing the player.

Samuels-Smith joined Chelsea from Everton for £4million two years ago and has represented England at U19 level.

The defender is said to be highly thought of in West-London and recently penned a long-term contract with the club that will keep him at Chelsea until 2031.

Samuels-Smith was previously a part of the Three Lions side that won the U18 Pinatar Super Cup last year having been named in the UEFA U17s European Championships team of the tournament 12 months earlier.

His twin brother Odin Samuels-Smith is currently a budding youngster in former club Everton's youth-set up.

Rangers have also been liked with Liverpool left back Owen Beck who was previously a transfer target for rivals Celtic.

Should Martin be successful in strengthening the position, then it could spell the end at Ibrox for injury-prone Turkey international Ridvan Yilmaz.
