PSG star a target for Man United

Champions League holders Paris Saint-Germain will face German champions Bayern Munich in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup.

The Ligue 1 champions have already lifted three trophies this season and are now favourites to win the tournament in the United States after defeating MLS side Inter Miami 4-0 in the last 16.

Luis Enrique’s side face Bayern on Saturday afternoon, before a potential meeting with Real Madrid in the semi-finals.

In the meantime, it has emerged that one member of the PSG side is attracting interest from Manchester United.

According to Foot Mercato via TEAMtalk, the Red Devils have identified PSG midfielder Fabian Ruiz as a top target for this summer’s transfer window.

Those in charge of United’s recruitment are hoping to overhaul Ruben Amorim’s midfield this summer and Ruiz has been identified as an ideal candidate to do exactly that.

The 29-year-old joined PSG from Italian outfit Napoli in 2022 and has since played 130 times for the club across all competitions.

It is claimed that the midfielder – who featured 58 times last season – has not yet been in talks with PSG over an extension to his new contract, which is set to expire in 2027.

United are therefore hopeful of luring the Spaniard to Old Trafford, although they would like need to offload a number of players first in order to be able to afford a move for Ruiz.

The likes of Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho are all expected to depart United this summer, which could free up funds for a marquee signing.

Saudi Arabian side Al Nassr are also said to be interested in the central midfielder and could rival United for his signature this summer.
