Former Miami Dolphins Pro Bowl running back Raheem Mostert ripped into the team for their trade with the Pittsburgh Steelers, which sent Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith out of town.
Mostert, who was with the Dolphins from 2022 to 2024, was released in February, and signed a one-year deal with the Las Vegas Raiders. He saw a pattern of mistreatment for their stars in Miami, and says when players end up ascending to a higher level on the field, the Dolphins turn the other cheek.
“Hot take: Be a Pro-bowler on the Dolphins, get treated like crap. Happy for my guys though! GO BALL OUT!!” Mostert wrote on X.
In 2023, Mostert had 209 rushes for 1012 yards and 18 touchdowns, earning a Pro Bowl nod. The Dolphins had decided to trade Ramsey for months, even before the NFL Draft, and acted like their star would not be back in 2025.
Smith, meanwhile, entered into a contract discussion with the Dolphins, hoping to get a pay raise. Yet, Miami did not see the value in giving Smith more money, and as a result, they traded the tight end who came off a career season with the Dolphins.
The Steelers traded one of their own stars, Minkah Fitzpatrick, back in return for Ramsey and Smith due to his lack of game-changing plays in recent years.
Either way, the team sees Smith and Fitzpatrick as ultimate game-changers that will help the team’s ability to make playoff pushes.
