Survey: Will Jared Goff exceed his projected passing totals in 2025?

Welcome to another installment in SB Nation’s Reacts survey series. This week, we are asking Detroit Lions fans two questions:

Will Jared Goff exceed his projected passing yards total?

Will Jared Goff exceed his projected passing TDs total?

With Jared Goff set to be featured in Netflix’s second season of “Quarterback” —premiering July 8—we figured it’s the perfect time to project what’s ahead before we get a chance to reminisce on his 2024 season.

With the departure of offensive coordinator Ben Johnson and the retirement of All-Pro center Frank Ragnow, there have been plenty of folks projecting a season of regression for Goff. While that may be a bit hasty, there’s no doubt that he’s under the spotlight and he’ll once again have to prove he can weather adversity.

For this exercise, we’ll use the projected stat totals from the folks over at FanDuel Sportsbook for context. At the time of the publication of this article, Goff’s quarterback totals are set at 3,875.5 passing yards and 27.5 passing touchdowns. If you believe Goff will exceed his passing yards projection, the betting line is -114, while projecting him to fall short of that total also has a betting line of -114. With regard to passing touchdowns, the betting line is -130 that he’ll exceed the projected mark and -102 that he’ll throw fewer touchdowns.

For reference, in Goff’s first season in Detroit (2021), he threw for 3,245 passing yards and 19 touchdowns. But in the next three years with Johnson as his offensive coordinator, Goff well exceeded these projected totals. Here’s a look at his stats over that time:

2022: 4,438 passing yards, 29 passing touchdowns

2023: 4.575 passing yards, 30 passing touchdowns

2024: 4,629 passing yards, 37 passing touchdowns

So, which Goff will we see in 2025? One who reverts to his pre-Ben Johnson days? Or the signal caller of the last three seasons, who orchestrated one of the most explosive offenses in football? Let us know your thoughts by voting in the survey below, and check back in later in the week for the results.
