Vini Jr struggles despite win: Player ratings & highlights from Real Madrid 1-0 Juventus [view]

Gonzalo Garcia's impressive header helped Real Madrid secure a one-sided 1-0 win over Juventus in the Last 16 of the Club World Cup at the Hard Rock Stadium.

Xabi Alonso's men progress through to the quarter-finals and will take on the winners of the Borussia Dortmund and Monterrey encounter. Juventus almost broke the deadlock in the 6th minute after forming an impressive counter, where Randal Kolo Muani sped past the last man, only for his attempt to go over the net.

The next 18 minutes were a cagey affair, with neither side producing a clear shot on goal. However, Juventus' Francisco Conceicao came closest with a header from close range that was comfortably saved by Thibaut Courtois.

Real Madrid's best chance of the first half arrived in the 30th minute. Jude Bellingham collected the ball inside the right-hand side of the box, but his low-driven ball was successfully deflected by the keeper and the defence.

Before the interval, Los Blancos midfielder Federico Valverde produced an impressive shot from 30 yards out aimed at the right post. His long-range attempt forced keeper Michele Di Gregorio into a full-stretch dive to parry the ball out for a corner.

The intensity increased for Madrid heading into additional time, but no goal arrived before the first-half whistle blew.

Real came out firing right from the start of the second half, and once again, Valverde was extremely close to scoring. His rapid low-cut ball went just wide of the left post.

Di Gregorio pushed away two impressive low and powerful efforts from Bellingham and Dean Hujsen, respectively, before a fabulous cross from Trent Alexander-Arnold found Garcia, who headed home in the 54th minute.

Right away, Juventus formed a strong counterattack, but Conceicao's low curled effort was pushed away by the Belgian keeper. Valverde, once again, showed his impressive shooting qualities by attempting an overhead kick from close range. His attempt resulted in a corner, but no goal arrived from the set-piece.

Real Madrid star player Kylian Mbappé made his first feature at the Club World Cup in the 66th minute. His impact was imminent with multiple attacking threats, but ultimately, no second goal arrived in the closing stages.

Madrid continued their high intensity and dominance, but Juventus keeper Di Gregorio made all the difference in stopping the Spanish side from running riot iin the Sunshine State.
