Christian Eriksen’s time at Manchester United is coming to an end.
Signed on a free transfer in the summer of 2022, the Danish midfielder proved to be an astute piece of business.
Bringing experience, creativity, and calmness to United’s midfield.
He played a key role in helping the club win the Carabao Cup and FA Cup, becoming a reliable figure, particularly under Erik ten Hag.
But after two seasons at Old Trafford, it’s clear the Premier League’s intensity has caught up with him.
Now 33, Eriksen is set to leave on a free once again, and it feels like the right time.
He’s been a great servant and still has plenty to offer in the right environment – but probably not in England’s top flight.
But where will Eriksen be playing for the 2025/26, looking for the correct club to platform him as his career draws to its close.

Ajax
A return to Ajax could be on the cards for Eriksen.
The Dutch giants, where he made his name, have confirmed their interest in bringing him back.
Speaking to ESPN, Ajax director Marijn Beuker admitted the club is exploring the possibility, though he stressed that any move would need to align with their long-term strategy.
Wages and squad balance will be key factors, but a reunion isn’t off the table.
Given the Eredivisie’s slower pace compared to the Premier League, Ajax could be an ideal fit for Eriksen at this stage of his career.
It would offer him a familiar environment, regular football, and the chance to contribute at a high level without the physical demands of England’s top flight.
Rangers
Rangers have also emerged as a surprise contender for Christian Eriksen’s signature.
With new manager Russell Martin, the Scottish club is targeting experienced players who can add quality without breaking the bank.
According to reports, Rangers are considering a move for the 33-year-old midfielder once he departs Old Trafford this summer.
Eriksen’s ability to control tempo and pick passes could offer something different to Rangers’ current midfield options, even if his mobility has declined.
With composure and creativity high on Martin’s wishlist, Eriksen could be seen as a short-term solution to help close the gap to Celtic – if the deal makes financial sense.

Besiktas
Besiktas are also among the front-runners to land Christian Eriksen following his departure from Manchester United, with the Turkish giants reportedly eager to secure a deal soon.
According to reports, Besiktas have already expressed their interest and are pushing to bring the experienced midfielder to the Super Lig on a free transfer.
Besiktas are targeting a major rebuild after a frustrating domestic campaign and view Eriksen as a player who could add quality and leadership in midfield.
While no agreement has been finalised, talks are said to be ongoing as the club looks to move quickly ahead of pre-season.
The Danish international is still weighing up his options, but Besiktas appear ready to make their move.
Wrexham
Wrexham have reportedly set their sights on Christian Eriksen as a potential summer signing, in what would be a stunning addition ahead of their debut Championship campaign.
Since their takeover, Wrexham have enjoyed a remarkable rise since their 2021 takeover, are continuing to explore ambitious moves to strengthen their squad.
Eriksen is said to be on Wrexham’s radar.
However, the move appears highly unlikely at this stage.
The Danish international is still involved at national team level and is expected to prioritise a switch abroad that allows him to play top-flight football.
Wages could also be a major obstacle, with Eriksen’s demands likely to exceed what Wrexham can realistically offer.

Saudi Arabia
A move to Saudi Arabia is also a realistic possibility for Eriksen.
At 33, the financial appeal of the Saudi Pro League could prove difficult to turn down, especially given the league’s likely financial incentives.
Eriksen would standout in the slower-paced, lower quality league.
For a player of his pedigree, it may simply come down to priorities.
He clearly still has the quality to contribute at the top level in Europe, but a final lucrative contract in Saudi Arabia might be too good to ignore.
After such an exceptional career at club and international level, few would begrudge him a move that rewards his years of service at the highest level.
