Manchester United have reached out to Inter Milan as part of the club’s dramatic rebuild this summer.

Already United are making waves ahead of the new season, with Matheus Cunha moving to Old Trafford from Wolverhampton Wanderers.

However, with a deal for Bryan Mbeumo seemingly on the horizon, United’s recruitment team are now turning to their next set of priorities, consisting of a striker, a wing-back, a goalkeeper, and in this case, a midfielder.

With Christian Eriksen gone and Casemiro a mere glimmer of what he once was, unable to provided the intensity on the pitch Ruben Amorim is looking for, a new central midfielder is on the cards.

Whilst Bruno Fernandes is able to step into the role, especially with Cunha and Mbeumo now looking set to feature behind the striker, another option wouldn’t go amiss especially with the club’s consistent injury woes.

As such, CaughtOffside have now reported that The Red Devils have contacted Inter Milan over their 25-year-old midfielder, Davide Frattesi.

Frattesi joined Inter last summer, making his year-long loan from Sassuolo permanent for £27 million after winning the Serie A and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Since moving to San Siro, the central midfielder has made 89 appearances, grabbing 15 goals and nine assists, however is missing out on the Club World Cup due to a thigh injury.

Now, United are made contact with Inter over a potential move for Davide Frattesi, amid other interest from Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid and Roma.

Whilst the Red Devils have made contact, this has solely been for on a fact finding mission, with no formal talks or negotiations been had at this time.

However, Inter have lowered their demands for the 25-year-old, reducing their price tag for him from £43 million (€50 million) to £30 million (€35 million).

With United facing significant financial issues, Frattesi and his newly lowered valuation could be a cheaper option for The Red Devils to strengthen their midfield.

However, he would come with a huge risk having only played in Serie A, with the club currently looking to offload Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund after failed stints at Old Trafford after moving from Italy.
