Manchester City Exit Club World Cup: Lose to Al-Hilal, Reaction & Media

Manchester City suffer a big loss in the Club World Cup. A loss to Saudi side Al-Hilal, one that comes off the back of a very strong first half, but just didn’t have the horses f0r the second half and extra time battle.

Pep got this one wrong as Cherki and Foden and more came on way too late, one that saw some veterans used and it came back to bite City in the end. Only silver lining is now some rest for the players ahead of another jam packed season. Bad result and failure of a tournament,

On to the reaction-

Pep Guardiola Reaction

“At this stage, they are all difficult games. We allowed them to create transitions but we created a lot and in general we were good.

“It’s a pity. We were in such a good place and I cannot say thank you enough to the staff, how they train and prepare, they have given everything.

“We made a lot of actions and Bounou made incredible saves. Nothing else to say.

“I have the feeling that the team is doing well but we go home and now time to rest and refresh our mind and come back next season.”

Notable Media

I still can’t quite understand how we went from that Juventus performance to that one last night?

The whole game just felt like one too far in terms of needing a rest/break. In hindsight getting knocked out may not be the worst thing looking at the bigger picture. pic.twitter.com/OCxzJBVLEg

That’s on Pep

That’s on his sub patterns

Too many rotten apples in this team unfortunately. We still have a lot of work to do
