Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, the greatest Thunder player of all time, has signed a super maximum contract extension to play in Oklahoma City through the 2030-31 season, when he will be 32. SGA was already signed through 2026-27, and opted for a four-year extension (he could have extend up to five).

Gilgeous-Alexander over-cleared the criteria for a supermax candidate, having completed 7+ years in the league, winning the 2025 MVP, and being selected to three consecutive All-NBA First teams and counting. As is common when the latest players get super-maxed, Shai will become the highest paid per-year player in NBA history. He has a good chance to make over half a billion dollars in his playing career, as this contract pushes him past $400 million. He also stands to have some extra change in his pocket, since he came to the agreement without the services of an agent.
