The Sacramento Kings are on the verge of picking up a backup center after trading Jonas Valanciunas to the Denver Nuggets on Tuesday.
ESPN’s Shams Charania reported that Drew Eubanks plans to sign a one-year deal with the Kings once he clears waivers after being released by the Los Angeles Clippers.
Eubanks will provide depth behind Domantas Sabonis along with rookie second-round draft pick Maxime Raynaud and undrafted rookie two-way player Dylan Cardwell.
Eubanks, 28, is a 6-foot-10, 245-pound journeyman who has played for five teams over seven seasons in the NBA. He started his career with the San Antonio Spurs before going on to play for the Portland Trail Blazers, Phoenix Suns, Utah Jazz and Clippers.
Eubanks appeared in 61 games for the Jazz and Clippers last season. He averaged 4.6 points and 3.7 rebounds in 12.2 minutes per game while shooting 59.3% from the field.
Eubanks had his best season in 2021-22, averaging career highs of 7.7 points and 5.4 rebounds over 71 games for the Spurs and Blazers.
