Wrexham AFC are looking to upgrade their squad once again this summer as they prepare for yet another promotion in their back-to-back-to-back rise through the tiers of English football.

Three years ago, the Welsh club were in the National League, having recently changed ownership with Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds buying out the side.

However, after lifting the National League title in the 2022/23 season, The Dragons have flown through League Two and League One, now set to take on their first campaign in the Championship.

As such, Wrexham are now looking to make some major improvements to keep up with the demands of the second tier, being linked with some major players.

The North Welsh club have had reports of targeted recently relegated Leicester City star Jamie Vardy, as well recent Manchester United departure Christian Eriksen.

However, The Daily Mail has reported that one man that the club seem incredibly keen on signing is former Manchester United man Tom Lawrence.

Lawrence is a product of the Manchester United academy, having been in the youth set up between 2002 and 2014 when, after loans with Carlisle United and Yeovil Town, the attacking midfielder m0ved permanently to Leicester.

The former Wales international went out of further loans with Rotherham, Blackburn Rovers, Cardiff City and Ipswich Town, only making four appearances for Leicester in the three years he spent with the club.

From there, Lawrence joined Derby County in 2017 where he became a regular, making 185 appearances with 37 goals and 25 assists, before moving to Rangers in 2022.

However, after three years, 69 games, 12 goals and seven assists with the Scottish side ,Tom Lawrence has been left clubless at the end of his contract, seeing Wrexham continuing to push to sign him as a free agent.

It’s understood that, coming from Wrexham, an opportunity for a homecoming is appealing to the 31-year-old who could yet sign to his hometown club.
