The Philadelphia Eagles are riding high after their second Super Bowl win in franchise history with most offensive stars locked up for the next several seasons. However, their top-ranked defense lost key pieces in the offseason, creating opportunities for players to step up in 2025.
The Eagles lost edge rusher Josh Sweat and defensive tackle Milton Williams in free agency, while Brandon Graham retired. Safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson was traded to the Houston Texans, Darius Slay was released and signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers, and the team said goodbye to Avonte Maddox, Oren Burks and Isaiah Rodgers.
Philadelphia will count on Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Zack Baun, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean to lead the way while hoping for breakout seasons from others.
That’s where defensive tackle Moro Ojomo comes in. The Athletic’s NFL analyst Jacob Robinson has pegged Ojomo as the most likely Eagle to have a breakout season in 2025.
“DT Milton Williams left for New England, giving his Nigerian-born successor a chance to build on a strong 2024. One year after he nearly went undrafted as a seventh-round pick in 2023, Ojomo’s 31 pressures ranked fourth on the team, and his PFF grade was top-40 at the position,” Robinson wrote.
The nearly 300-pound defensive tackle played 37% of defensive snaps in his second season, recording 20 tackles and five quarterback hits. He didn’t record a sack during the regular season but had one against the Los Angeles Rams in the Division Round.
With Williams now in New England, Ojomo should see a much bigger role this season.
