He will not stat there forever, of course. Wisconsin community can still expect him to play around 5-10 years of prime basketball but when it is all said and one, he already has a plan set out.

The Greek Freak is currently in Greece amid all the shocking movements happening in the NBA offseason and there, he participated in a podcast in front of a huge audience and talked about his retirement plans among others.

It is not just a vacation for him. He said he returns to the place every offseason because he finds himself spending more time there once his basketball career is over.

“I can’t wait when every season ends to come back home. I feel comfortable here. When i retire, I plan to stay here. Always Athens. Athens is home to me,” he said during the Bigger Than Basketball event as quoted by Greek reporter Harris Stavrou.

It is public knowledge that while Antetokounmpo is ethnically Nigerian, he is a citizen of Greece where his family moved when he was still young.

Giannis Antetokounmpo already sees himself playing overseas

Antetokounmpo generously engaged with fans last month to answer some Q&A and one thing that stood out has something to do with his plan after the NBA.

He said he is open to playing for a European club.

“Maybe when I retire from the NBA. Fener or Efes?,” he replied when asked by a fan to come to Turkey.

His brother Kostas played for Fenerbahçe.

A Greek basketball club should not be ruled out. His brother Thanasis is a two-time Greek League champion with Panathinaikos.

He himself played his first ever pro game with the Filathlitikos, a third division team from the semi-pro Greek B Basket League.

They also have a family friend who now owns the majority of Greek team Aris B.C, so that is a possibility.
