A round-up of the latest Premier League transfer rumours - with news from Man Utd, West Ham, Arsenal and more.
It’s time for our morning round-up of the biggest and juiciest new Premier League transfer rumours – and we’re going to kick off with a story which should make interesting reading for Manchester United fans.
According to Caught Offside, the Red Devils have “made an approach” for Inter Milan and Italy midfielder Davide Frattesi as they seek to “gain an understanding of the conditions” for a potential transfer.
Quite a few teams are said to be interested in Frattesi amid uncertainty over the 25-year-old’s future at the San Siro, with Tottenham Hotspur, Atlético Madrid and AS Roma all “keeping an eye” on his situation.
No formal offers have yet been made and the players is said to be willing to “take his time” to decide upon his next steps, but Caught Offside claims that Inter have lowered their asking price to facilitate a move – with the valuation dropping from €50m (£43m) to just €35m (£30m). Elsewhere, The Daily Mail are among outlets to build on a claim from German tabloid Bild that Marcus Rashford could be set for a surprise move to Bayern Munich in the coming months.
The 3AM Verdict: Frattesi looks like he would be a fine signing on paper, and Manchester United certainly need some fresh legs in the midfield, but it’s too early to say whether a deal is likely to get done, especially with other teams monitoring the situation. We have the distinct impression that United have a very long list of targets for the midfield, and have yet to make up their mind as to who they should sign.
West Ham see £17m bid rejected as they move for new left-back
Over to GiveMeSport now – via Fabrizio Romano – as they suggest that West Ham United have opened negotiations over a brand new left-back, namely Slavia Prague’s El Hadji Malick Diouf.
Their first bid, claimed to be worth “around €20m” (that’s about £17m in old money) has been rejected, however, with Slavia ready to “hold out for more money” amidst alleged interest from elsewhere. The article observes that both Crystal Palace and Liverpool had been rumoured to be watching the 20-year-old Senegal international.
As it stands, it isn’t clear whether West Ham will come back to the table with an improved offer or whether they’ll let the chance to sign the young full-back pass them by, but the Hammers are said to be “pushing” for his signature.
The 3AM Verdict: Diouf is a hugely promising player and this could be quite an exciting signing for Graham Potter if they can get it over the line. For what it’s worth, we don’t believe that either Liverpool or Palace are likely to make a bid in the immediate future even if they have scouted him, but there could easily be other teams in the market.
La Liga side move to scupper Arsenal deal
We’ll wrap our morning rumour round-up off with a story from Spanish outlet Marca, who claim that Valencia are making an attempt to shut down Arsenal’s widely-reported interest in versatile young defender Cristhian Mosquera.
Arsenal are still “pressing” to sign the Colombian, but his current club have now made an “official offer” of a new contract in the hope of persuading him to remain at La Mestalla. Mosequera would receive a “much higher salary” should he stay in Spain and would become one of Valencia’s best-paid players, but the exact amount isn’t disclosed.
The key information that’s absent is Mosquera’s thoughts on the matter. It isn’t made clear whether he would prefer to stay put and be a star player at Valencia, or gamble on a move to Arsenal where he would not likely be an immediate starter. Arsenal’s path to the player, however, has gotten a little muddier.
The 3AM Verdict: If wages are a major concern for Mosquera, then Arsenal can likely win that particular battle. The question is whether he’s willing to gamble on becoming a small fish in a bigger pond, with Arsenal hardly lacking for good players in defence. We’ll find out whether he’s minded to move in the coming weeks. One thing that the report does claim is that it’s highly unlikely that he stays put and sees out his current contract, which has one year left to run.
