Tottenham are plotting a move to sign Aston Villa star Jacob Ramsey after making contact with his agent about a potential deal.
Mick Brown, who also worked as a scout at Aston Villa and Man United and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old would be open to the move to kickstart his career.
Thomas Frank is believed to be a big fan of the midfielder, while he has been a long-term target for Spurs’ recruitment team who have been tracking him all season.
This comes after Football Insider exclusively revealed in May that Ramsey is “unhappy” at Villa and would be open to a move for more regular starts.
Villa are prepared to accept offers for their academy product in an attempt to raise pure profit amid ongoing concerns about their PSR situation.
Brown previously told Football Insider that Villa will accept big offers for Ramsey as Unai Emery is uncertain about where he features in his plans for the future.

Tottenham plot Jacob Ramsey swoop after scouting missions
Tottenham are believed to be long-term admirers of the midfielder after Football Insider revealed in July 2024 that Tottenham are very interested in signing Ramsey.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, insisted that they could now make a formal move for his signature after assessing his availability.
“*Tottenham have been looking at Jacob Ramsey,*” he told Football Insider.
“Thomas Frank rates him and he’s one Spurs have been interested in for a while.
“They’ve had scouts keeping an eye on his performances, and they’ve now spoken to his agent about what it would take to bring him in.
“He’s had doubts about whether he’s going to be a regular starting XI player at Villa, or if he’s going to be better served moving somewhere else.
“So a move to Tottenham would be a fresh start and a new environment for him.
“Plus, from a Villa point of view, they might be open to letting him go to raise money.
“They’ve had these financial concerns and making profit from selling him will allow them to spend.”

Antoine Semenyo update emerges as Spurs approach Bournemouth
Alongside their efforts to sign Ramsey, Spurs have also been exploring a deal for Bournemouth star Antoine Semenyo after an excellent season at the Vitality Stadium.
However, Brown told Football Insider on 27 June that Bournemouth are determined to keep Semenyo and have set a £70million price tag to ward off interest.
Spurs had approached the Cherries to enquire about the winger’s availability but were met with a firm and lofty asking price in an attempt to put them off.
This comes after Brown first told Football Insider in October that Bournemouth could price Tottenham out of signing Semenyo with a hefty asking price placed on his head.
