Report: Manchester United offered chance to sign ‘very fast’ American star during Jadon Sancho talks

Manchester United are hoping to find a buyer for Jadon Sancho this summer, and Juventus could emerge as a potential destination.

Pre-season starts for Manchester United in less than a week, and Jadon Sancho’s future is once again a topic of discussion.

Sancho returned to United from Borussia Dortmund last summer and buried the hatchet with Erik ten Hag.

United then sent Sancho on loan to Chelsea, including a permanent option as part of the deal.

Chelsea have now turned down the option on Sancho, paying United £5million in the process.

Sancho has little chance of being reintegrated under Ruben Amorim, but finding a buyer has not been easy.

Manchester United offered Timothy Weah chance

Napoli were interested in Sancho, but that move has not progressed, with Sancho’s huge wages seemingly a problem.

Reports from Italy suggested that Juventus want Sancho and were willing to offer two players to United.

Midfielder Douglas Luiz and striker Dusan Vlahovic were both on offer to United, and another name has entered the mix.

Fabrizio Romano has told Give Me Sport that Juventus have made United aware of Timothy Weah’s availability during talks for Sancho.

Luiz and Vlahovic are again mentioned, but this is the first suggestion of Weah being offered up to United.

So far, United have not taken the chance to move for Weah, but Juventus are keen to come up with a creative solution.

Juve don’t want to pay Sancho’s wages in full and seemingly want to send a player to Old Trafford in exchange.

Weah’s availability has been raised to United, but whether Amorim has any interest remains to be seen.

Timothy Weah profiled

Weah is the son of former AC Milan star George Weah, who won the Ballon d’Or in 1995.

Born in Brooklyn back in 2000, Weah started in the New York Red Bulls ranks before joining Paris Saint-Germain in 2014.

Weah only made six first-team appearances for PSG but scored twice, showing some potential as a striker or wide forward.

A loan spell to Celtic brought mixed returns before PSG sold Weah to Lille in 2019.

Juventus pounced for Weah after more than 100 Lille appearances, and the Turin giants have now converted him into a right wing-back or right-back.

Weah chipped in with five Serie A goals this past season and has now notched 44 caps for the United States.

Juventus midfielder Manuel Locatelli has branded Weah ‘very fast’, as quoted by Goal, and his attacking ability as a wing-back could appeal to Amorim.

United play with wing-backs under Amorim and Weah could become competition for Diogo Dalot on the right flank.

It’s still difficult to imagine United taking Weah in an exchange for Sancho, but he is a name for Amorim to weigh up.
