Jonathan David has been one of the hottest properties on the market for free agents this summer, but Fabrizio Romano says that the attacker finally made up his mind about where he will play next season.
Coming off the back of a season in which he scored 25 goals for Lille, notably bagging a Champions League winner Real Madrid, interest came from across Europe.
Premier League sides Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal had all been rumoured to have an interest in him.
Juventus, though, had stormed into the picture in recent weeks and Romano says it is the Italian club that has signed the 25-year-old just a couple of dsays after he became a free agent following the expiration of his contract with Lille.
Romano announced on X: “Jonathan David to Juventus, here we go! Verbal agreement reached overnight on every detail with Canadian striker.
“Long-term deal agreed and Jonathan David is set to travel for medical tests, formal steps to follow.
“Contracts to be checked and signed soon.”
Is Juventus a good move for David?
Juventus are coming off the back of a difficult season in which they struggled to score goals, and the meek way they were defeated 1-0 in the FIFA Club World Cup by Real Madrid on Tuesday suggests there is certainly scope for Jonathan David to improve the fortunes of the Turin side.

SciSports, data analytics experts, reports that Juve have a Club Fit score of 64 for the striker. This puts the Serie A side among his better options, although it stresses that his development prospects in Italy are slim. He can, however, expect good playing time as well as a formation and style that is well suited to him.
Following their exit from the Club World Cup, it’s evident that Juventus need new faces to compete at the very top level, and Jonathan David will be the first to join Igor Tudor’s side this summer after a string of loan deals were made permanent.
