Liverpool has received a resounding message regarding Harvey Elliott's future amid growing speculation about the young playmaker's prospects at Anfield. Elliott has been the subject of transfer rumors, with the chatter gaining momentum since last season drew to a close.
Liverpool is believed to be holding out for a sum north of $69 million (£50 million) for Elliott this summer, with RB Leipzig being touted as a possible new home for him.
Elliott clocked up 28 appearances for Liverpool in the previous season, featuring in 18 Premier League matches and earning a mere six starts under head coach Arne Slot throughout the term Amid this backdrop, there's talk that Elliott might be on his way out of Anfield with a permanent transfer this summer.
Both former Manchester City defender Micah Richards and ex-England forward Gary Lineker concur that Liverpool would be wise to keep Elliott off the transfer list during the ongoing window.
Richards drew parallels between Elliott's situation and Cole Palmer's switch to Chelsea in the summer of 2023, which saw Palmer exit Manchester City.
"If I'm Liverpool, I'm not selling him. Not one bit. I'm not selling him," Richards expressed on the latest instalment of The Rest is Football podcast.
"It reminds me of the Cole Palmer situation when he was at Manchester City. Okay, you've got Phil Foden, you've got Kevin De Bruyne at the time, you've got other young players coming through.
"I just think if you could get a good Premier League team on loan for the season, because we keep talking about Salah, Salah signed a two-year deal.
"A year from now, he [Salah] could be, I don't want to say winding down, but might not be the same player that we used to over the years. And he [Elliott] could play that position so well. I would just wait. I wouldn't get rid of him right now. Not a chance."

Lineker concurred with Richards regarding Elliott's prospects at Liverpool, stating: "I wouldn't disagree with that at all,".
Elliott's pivotal contribution to England's triumph in the Euro Under-21 Championships this summer, where he was crowned Player of the Tournament after netting five goals – four in the knockout stages – has sparked persistent speculation about a potential permanent departure from Liverpool this summer.
Liverpool is likely to focus on outgoings after its early transfer spend, with Jarell Quansah set to complete his move to Bayer Leverkusen.
