Report: Liverpool reject offer for 'remarkable' ace from European giants as transfer chase heats up

Liverpool have dominated transfer headlines since the summer window opened up at the start of June.

The Reds have been one of the busiest teams in the market this time around, with Arne Slot and Richard Hughes splashing the cash left, right and centre.

Liverpool have already welcomed five new faces to their ranks, and seeing as though there are still areas within their squad which need upgrading, it’s unlikely that they’re going to stop any time soon.

However, with all of these new players arriving, there’s likely to be some sales in the near future, with one of Slot’s men of particular interest to some European giants.

Liverpool reject Bayern Munich’s offer for Luis Diaz

Luis Diaz has been the talk of the town since the start of the summer, with Barcelona feeling like the most likely team to acquire his services.

However, after they pivoted their attention towards Nico Williams, Bayern Munich became the front-runners.

And now, as per a fresh report from Sky Sports journalist Lyall Thomas, it seems like the Reds have rejected an offer for the attacker.

The report shares that Bayern Munich’s director, Max Eberl, has been told that Diaz is ‘not for sale,’ and since then, discussions have gone ‘no further.’

Liverpool are not set to ‘entertain any approaches’ for Diaz, with Slot seeing him as an integral part of his plans in the 2025-26 season.

Club executives are ‘prioritising team performance’ with the attacker ‘pivotal’ to how things will pan out over the next two years.

Liverpool are silly for not selling Luis Diaz this summer

Liverpool have already gone through a free agent saga with Trent Alexander-Arnold this season, and it looks like they’re likely to go through the same thing again at the end of the 2026-27 campaign.

Diaz only has two years left on his current deal at Anfield, and unless they get rid of him this summer, they’ll hardly receive any money for him.

Of course, they could end up extending his stay, but by the end of the 2026-27 season, he’ll be 30 years old, and it’s unknown whether he’ll be as good as he is now.

Indeed, only time will tell how things will end up panning out, but at the moment, it feels rather silly for Liverpool not to at least consider allowing him to exit, especially with the amount of talent available on the market.

That is, even if he has been described as a “remarkable” player over the last couple of seasons.
