Liverpool react to new Luis Diaz approach as Bayern Munich try to raid Reds

Liverpool have rebuffed an approach from Bayern Munich for Luis Diaz, maintaining their firm stance on the Colombian's future. Diaz has been the subject of transfer speculation throughout the summer, with Barcelona also previously showing interest.

However, the La Liga champions appear to have shifted their focus towards Nico Williams after their own approach was rejected earlier in the summer. Bayern Munich have now emerged as potential suitors for Diaz, as they seek alternatives following their unsuccessful pursuit of Florian Wirtz and a replacement for Leroy Sane, who has transferred to Galatasaray.

But their attempts to secure Liverpool's No.7 seem to have been thwarted, with The Times reporting that the Reds have once again declined to entertain any interest because he is not for sale. Bayern's director of sport Max Eberl is understood to have made contact, but has been informed that the winger is not on the market.

That means Liverpool have not changed their stance since rejecting Barcelona's approach earlier in the summer, despite suggestions that Diaz has grown unhappy with the club due to his contractual situation.

According to reports from Colombia, the 28-year-old is upset with Liverpool for not planning to offer him a new contract this summer, despite insisting he is not for sale. He wants to better pay to reflect his status in the squad.

Diaz has two years remaining on his current contract and the forward himself has already admitted he has spoken to other clubs this summer as he weighs up his options.

"I’m very happy at Liverpool," Diaz said on international duty last month. "They’ve treated me well since the first day.

"We’re talking with other clubs. It’s the transfer window, it’s normal. If Liverpool renews my contract, or if I have to stay the two years I have left, I’ll be happy. It’s up to them."
