Liverpool and Newcastle have often been in the same headlines as one another this summer.
Arne Slot and Richard Hughes have dominated the transfer market, and with one of Liverpool’s next priorities being a new striker, Alexander Isak’s name has popped up in a lot of conversations.
Most reports, however, are adamant that a move for the Sweden international would cost Liverpool far too much, which means that other targets have been cropping up.
Of course, there’s also Liverpool’s long-standing interest in Anthony Gordon, but at the moment, that feels like a non-runner.

Now, however, it seems like it’s Newcastle’s turn to return the favour as Eddie Howe is reportedly interested in a member of Liverpool’s first-team squad.
Liverpool now want to sign Harvey Elliott after his England heroics
Ever since Harvey Elliott put on the performance of his career at the Under-21 Euros, several teams have had their interest piqued in the Englishman.
Teams such as West Ham United and Tottenham have long been linked with the attacking midfielder, but Newcastle are a far more exciting opportunity.
And, as per a report from GiveMeSport, Howe is now ‘looking into a move’ for Elliott.

Anthony Elanga is also on Newcastle’s shortlist, but after their first bid was rejected for the “special” player, they’ve not yet made another move.
This is why the report adds that Elliott is now the player they’ve started to ‘explore’ a move for, with the 22-year-old able to cover a couple of positions within the Magpies’ ranks.

Liverpool should only let Harvey Elliott go permanently for a premium fee
Although Liverpool already have Dominik Szoboszlai and now Florian Wirtz, who can play in attacking midfield, Elliott is still a more than solid option.
The former Fulham man was Jurgen Klopp’s star boy, and although Slot didn’t give Elliott as much game time as he deserved last season, there should surely be a way for the Dutchman to squeeze him into his plans.
If there isn’t, however, then either a premium fee should be required or even a buy-back clause, just in case the Englishman ends up getting any better.

At the moment, it’s anyone’s guess what Liverpool’s team are going to look like, but one thing is for sure: Elliott cannot be allowed to just sit on the Reds’ bench, especially not at this stage of his career.
