The only thing left for the Liverpool to complete the deal is to agree on a fee with Crystal Palace. The Eagles are open to selling but are likely to drive a hard bargain. That is especially since Chelsea are entitled to 20% of the transfer due to a sell-on clause in Guehi’s 2021 move from Stamford Bridge.
Despite the extra complications, Slot’s side are pushing ahead with confidence. Guehi is just what the Dutchman wants.
In the meantime, we have already early in the window seen Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez. Therefore, Reds are moving quickly. The addition of Guehi would be strong depth and leadership on the back line. It will give Slot the type of dependable defender he needs to be able to hit the ground running.
