Celtic have already signed a left-back for the new Premiership season.
That came in the form of Kieran Tierney’s return to Celtic, but could Brendan Rodgers bring in Liverpool defender Andy Robertson as his competition?
There has been a lot of noise around Robertson’s Liverpool future this summer, especially after the champions of England signed Milo Kerkez from Bournemouth.
What’s even more interesting is that Robertson’s contract at Anfield expires on June 30 2026, and with young blood now in the building, will the player himself want to start a new chapter in his career?

Will Andy Robertson return to Celtic?
Ally McCoist would have watched Robertson not just do wonders in the Premier League, but also for Scotland.
When the former Rangers striker was asked about the 31-year-old’s next career move, he told talkSPORT that he could go ‘anywhere he wants’ and that he ‘deserves it’.
But when Celtic’s name was put on the table, McCoist thinks, in ‘normal circumstances’, it would happen, but there is one reason why it won’t.
Alan Brazil asks: “He has had a brilliant career, Andy Robertson. Still undecided on his Liverpool future. End of an era for him and Trent (joining Real Madrid). Where do you think Andy goes from here?”

McCoist responded: “Anywhere he wants. He deserves it. He has earned his stripes. He has been different class.”
Brazil then interrupts and asks: “Celtic?”
And McCoist continues: “In normal circumstances, you would say yes. But they have just taken Kieran back, haven’t they? Kieran Tierney.
“So, my answer to that would be, don’t get me wrong, the two of them could play in any team, but I would probably suggest not to Celtic because of the Tierney signing.”
‘What a career’ for Robertson after leaving Celtic
Robertson is a boyhood Celtic fan, and he started his career at Parkhead before leaving in 2009 without making a senior appearance.
That didn’t affect the left-back because his journey to huge success started with Queen’s Park, and many years later, he was lifting the European Cup with Liverpool.
McCoist lauded Robertson for the career he has had and thinks his next career move could be ‘abroad’ because many Scotsmen are currently thriving in foreign cultures.
“But as I said, what a career,” added McCoist. “He was released from Celtic as a kid. Queen’s Park. Dundee United. Hull. Liverpool. Just about won everything. 80-odd Scotland caps.
“I think he has been absolutely top class. It wouldn’t surprise me. He is one of these lads, if he fancied a couple of years abroad. A part of him might look at McTominay, Gilmour, Adams, and Ferguson. Boys like that. Doing ever so well and enjoying themselves.”
