Manchester United target has 'agreed five-year deal' as advanced talks underway for Amorim's…

Man Utd are set to miss out on one of their dream targets for the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim will have to go back to the drawing board as he looks to add a striker to his Manchester United squad in the summer transfer window. The Portuguese head coach has prioritised attacking additions to his squad and wants to sign a new man to lead their forward line next season.

United have already completed a deal for Matheus Cunha and are confident they will add Brentford ace Bryan Mbeumo in the coming weeks. Those two signings should significantly improve the attacking threat of his side, but Amorim would also like to sign a striker if possible.

It is still unclear who that will be, with United's pursuit of a striker set to be influenced by how successful they are with player sales. Cunha and Mbeumo will both be funded from the club's initial transfer budget, but they will need to raise funds if they are to add an established goalscorer to their squad as well.

Viktor Gyokeres 'agrees' Arsenal move

Manchester United identified Sporting star Viktor Gyokeres as a top target for the summer transfer window, with the 27-year-old viewed as the 'dream' addition by Ruben Amorim. The Sweden international netted a staggering 54 goals in 52 appearances as Sporting won a league and cup double last season, which has led to serious interest in his signature this summer.

A move to Old Trafford always seemed less likely once United missed out on Champions League qualification and it was quickly reported Gyokeres would prefer a move to Arsenal. It now looks like he will get his wish, after journalist Sacha Tavolieri claimed he had agreed a five-year deal with the North London club.

Taking to social media, the reporter claimed: "Arsenal Football Club now in advanced talks with Sporting CP in order to find a deal for Viktor Gyökeres. Gunners feels like they touching the final line on that case. 5 years deal already agreed. Sesko’s moving away."

United always viewed a move for Gyokeres unlikely and will consider other targets as they look to sign a striker this summer. Ollie Watkins is one option currently on their radar, while there is long-term interest in Benjamin Sesko. Victor Osimhen's wage demands are deemed too high to currently pursue a deal, while a move for Hugo Ekitike won't happen unless Eintracht Frankfurt lower their €100m asking price.
