Dominic Calvert-Lewin has been tipped to remain in the Premier League after leaving Everton.

Calvert-Lewin posted an emotional goodbye message on Instagram on Sunday (29 June), confirming his departure from the Toffees after almost nine years on Merseyside.

The English striker was hampered by injuries over the last few years but still made 239 Premier League appearances for Everton, scoring 57 goals.

At 28, Calvert-Lewin is still seen as an interesting prospect for potential suitors, especially clubs who would benefit from his vast experience in the Premier League.

Burnley, Leeds and Sunderland options for Calvert-Lewin

Calvert-Lewin’s departure has raised some eyebrows as it leaves David Moyes with just one recognised striker at the club in Beto, who could also be leaving the Toffees.

MORE TOFFEES STORIES

The Scotsman does look set to sign Thierno Barry from Villarreal, but with Everton’s limited financial resources, he could rue letting the former Sheffield United striker leave.

Calvert-Lewin already has options, and ex-Goodison scout Bryan King – speaking exclusively to Goodison News – believes that the striker could join one of the three newly-promoted sides.

“It’s very difficult to say where Calvert-Lewin will end up,” King said.

“However, I could see one of the sides that have just come up looking to bring him in, so that’s Burnley, Leeds United or Sunderland. They should all show an interest in him, because it would certainly give them a good option.

“If West Ham lose Mohammed Kudus, maybe they’ll bring him in. However, I think one of the newly promoted sides would be a good move for Calvert-Lewin.”

Calvert-Lewin leaves with mixed feelings

After the 2020/21 season, Calvert-Lewin looked destined to go down as an Everton great.

The striker had just won the Everton Player of the Year award after scoring a career-high 21 goals across all competitions and was a focal part of the England setup.

The following four seasons sawCalvert-Lewin somewhat robbed by injuries, and he never fully recovered the same promising form he had shown.

While it was clearly out of his control, and he still gave everything for the badge during his time with the Toffees, he leaves the club as a loyal servant, but with the question of ‘what if’ hanging over him.
