Jaxson Robinson signs with Cavaliers as undrafted free agent

Former Kentucky guard Jaxson Robinson has signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Cleveland Cavaliers as an undrafted free agent, according to Jon Chepkevich of Draft Express.

An Exhibit 10 contract is a 1-year minimum non-guaranteed deal that can also include a bonus for the player if they are waived by the NBA team and then sign with the team's G League affiliate. If the player stays with the G League team for at least 60 days, they earn the bonus, which typically ranges from $5,000 to $75,000.

Robinson is the third former Wildcat to sign with an NBA team as an undrafted free agent, joining point guard Lamont Butler, who signed a two-way contract with the Atlanta Hawks, and forward Andrew Carr, who signed an Exhibit 10 deal with the Portland Trailblazers.

UK teammates Koby Brea (Golden State Warriors traded to Phoenix Suns) and Amari Williams (Orlando Magic traded to Boston Celtics) became the first draft picks of the Mark Pope era at Kentucky after each were selected in the second round of the 2025 NBA Draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn Thursday night.

Since 2010, no school has produced more total NBA Draft picks (51) than Kentucky. Since the NBA went to a two-round draft in 1989, the Wildcats now have the most players drafted overall with 67, 48 of which have come in the first round.

UK has also had at least one player selected in 18 consecutive NBA Drafts, the longest active streak of any school. Prior to 2025, Kentucky had a first round pick in 15 straight drafts, the longest streak in the common era. The Cats have also produced multiple draft picks in 16 consecutive drafts.

The reigning Big 12 Sixth Man of the Year, Robinson transferred to Kentucky from BYU, and was the Wildcats' second-leading scorer this season, averaging 13.0 points, 3.5 rebounds, and 1.7 assists while shooting 37.6% from beyond the arc while starting all 24 games in which he appeared before having his season cut short with a wrist injury. His 62 made 3-pointers also ranked second on the team.

Robinson scored in double figures in 17 games with four games of 20 or more points, including a season-high 27 at Mississippi State, 22 vs. Texas A&M, and 20 vs. Arkansas and Lipscomb.

Robinson initially suffered the right wrist injury during a collision in practice prior to the South Carolina game. He played against the Gamecocks but was shown multiple times wincing in pain and grabbing his injured right wrist before finishing with six points on 2 of 8 shooting. Robinson also sat out the Texas, Vanderbilt, and Alabama games before returning to the lineup against his homestate Oklahoma Sooners, scoring seven points on 3 of 7 shooting in 12 minutes.

UK head coach Mark Pope announced Robinson would miss the remainder of the season on March 1, which caused him to miss the NBA Draft Combine in Chicago, severely hampering his chances of being drafted.
