Dusan Vlahovic to Man United transfer pathway clears after Viktor Gyokeres bombshell

Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic has been linked with a move to Manchester United.

Manchester have been handed a potential opening in their pursuit for a new striker this summer.

The Reds are in desperate need of a reliable goal-scorer up front next season after a meagre 44 goals in the top-flight last term. It represented United's worst tally in the era.

A long list of strikers have been linked with a move to M16; including , Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike. Any one of them would be an upgrade on the Reds' current options. But United have been handed an apparent blow in their pursuit for Gyokeres, .

However, an alternative option in Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic may well now be easier to acquire after reports from journalist that the Serie A giants have agreed a deal for Canadian striker Jonathan David.

With Randal Kolo Muani looking set to stay in Turin - and with Vlahovic only having a year left on his current deal - it looks likely that the Serbian will leave this summer.

with also linked at that stage. The 25-year-old scored as many goals (17) last season as United's current strike force put together, with Juventus asking for a reported fee of £35million for his services this summer.

The Reds have already been handed a clear indication, by the player himself, of what tactics best suit his style of play, which could end up being a message to United head coach Amorim.

"Yes I like to play with another striker on the side. I get on well, but this also depends on the coach," Vlahovic said in an interview with RSI in November, via Italian publication .

"Definitely, it is a bit easier because [Aleksandar] Mitrovic is a strong player who plays a lot with his back to goal - and engaging in aerial duels and I can exploit my qualities.

"It's also because coach Dragan Stojkovic didn't force me to do so many defensive tasks. And, for a player like me, for my frame... honestly I can't run so much. Because then I'm not fresh in the final third."
