Randy Moss receives major update in cancer battle

Hall of Famer Randy Moss, who is an NFL analyst for ESPN, has received some major news in his battle with cancer.

Moss will be able to return to “NFL Sunday Countdown” on ESPN full time for the 2025 season, according to The Athletic.

Moss stepped away from his ESPN duties last December after being diagnosed with cancer outside of his bile duct. Fortunately, he was able to return to the air for the Super Bowl. Now he is set to return to his regular role with the network.

“Randy’s return on Super Bowl Sunday was an emotional lift — not just for our team but for the entire football community — and knowing he will resume his full Sunday NFL Countdown schedule, beginning in Week 1, has been the highlight of the offseason,” ESPN said in a statement to The Athletic.

Randy Moss had a Whipple procedure to put a stent on his liver on Thanksgiving after experiencing urine discoloration.

One of the greatest receivers of all time, Moss has been with ESPN since July of 2016. He was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2018 as a first-ballot selection after earning four first-team All-Pro honors and leading the NFL in touchdown receptions five times during his career.

Moss has been undergoing radiation and chemotherapy treatment for the cancer, according to The Athletic, and he has progressed to the point where he is ready to resume his role with ESPN for the 2025 season.

In addition to working as an analyst for ESPN since 2016, Moss previously worked for FOX Sports as an NFL analyst from 2012-15.
