Arsenal have officially completed the signing of England international Chloe Kelly on a free transfer following the expiry of her contract with Manchester City.

The 27-year-old winger has penned a three-year deal with the Gunners after an impressive loan spell during the second half of last season, in which she scored two goals and registered five assists in 13 appearances. Her performances played a vital role in helping Arsenal clinch their first UEFA Women’s Champions League title since 2007.

Kelly, who became a free agent at the start of July, chose to return to Arsenal despite interest from other Women’s Super League sides and clubs in the United States. A former academy product, Kelly first joined Arsenal at the age of 12 in 2010 and made 19 senior appearances before leaving for Everton in 2018.

Arsenal’s director of women’s football, Clare Wheatley, also welcomed the news: “We’re thrilled to keep Chloe Kelly at Arsenal. Her application, attitude and performances were outstanding throughout her loan spell last season and we are delighted to continue working together as we gear up for an exciting 2025/26 campaign. I know our supporters have been waiting patiently for this one and I’m sure they’ll join me in welcoming Chloe home.”

Head coach Renee Slegers, who took over mid-season and led Arsenal to European glory, praised Kelly’s contribution and ambition: “I’m delighted that we’ve been able to make Chloe a permanent signing for us. She had a great impact and played an important role in what we achieved here last season. I know she shares our ambition to compete for more.”

Kelly’s permanent return to Arsenal is expected to boost the club’s domestic and European ambitions going into the new season. The announcement comes just days before she joins up with the Lionesses for their Euro 2025 campaign opener against France on Saturday.
