Arsenal are reportedly edging closer to securing a high-profile move for Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze, with the England international open to a switch to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, direct talks between Arsenal and Eze’s representatives were held on Monday. During the meeting, the Gunners were informed of the 27-year-old’s £67.5 million release clause, which could rise to £68 million with add-ons. The clause was triggered following an outstanding 2024/25 campaign in which Eze netted 11 goals and registered six assists in 31 appearances.

Eze’s stock soared after his match-winning goal in the FA Cup final against Tottenham Hotspur on May 17, which secured Crystal Palace their first major trophy in the club’s history. His ability to deliver on the biggest stage has further convinced Arsenal of his suitability for their ambitions as they prepare for another title challenge and Champions League campaign.

A product of Arsenal’s youth academy before being released at age 13, the London-born attacker is reportedly keen on a return to north London. Romano revealed that Eberechi Eze is “open to joining Arsenal’s project” and sees the move as a major opportunity for his future. His versatility, capable of operating as a No. 10, on either wing, or even in central midfield, makes him an ideal fit for Mikel Arteta’s dynamic system.

The Gunners’ interest in Eze is part of a broader strategy to bolster their attack after finishing second in the Premier League for three consecutive seasons. According toThe Athletic, Arsenal view Eze as a separate target to their ongoing pursuit of a striker and left winger.

The club is aiming to secure three major attacking reinforcements this summer, with RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Šeško and Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyökeres linked up front, and Real Madrid’s Rodrygo and Newcastle United’s Anthony Gordon discussed for the wing.

While no formal bid has yet been submitted to Crystal Palace, discussions are progressing behind the scenes. Arsenal are reportedly exploring a payment structure of three £20 million installments plus bonuses, potentially easing the financial burden of meeting the full release clause.

However, Arsenal face competition for Eze’s signature. North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur have also expressed interest, with manager Thomas Frank eyeing the Palace star as a marquee signing. Spurs have long admired Eberechi Eze and could now intensify their pursuit following their FA Cup final defeat at his hands.

Palace, empowered by their cup success and Eze’s contract running until 2027, are in a strong negotiating position. The club is expected to demand full payment of the release clause unless a compelling offer is made.

With Eberechi Eze firmly on Arsenal’s radar and willing to join, the Gunners could be set for a significant addition to their squad in the coming weeks, as Arteta looks to finally end their title drought and build a team capable of competing on all fronts.
