Man Utd 'set deadline' for Bryan Mbeumo deal as club ready to end transfer saga

Manchester United are still in talks with Brentford over the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo after submitting two unsuccessful bids in the last month. And the Red Devils reportedly want to reach an agreement by the end of the week as the start of pre-season on Monday looms larger.

United have made the Bees forward their top transfer priority as they look to secure their second summer signing after Wolves' Matheus Cunha. Brentford have been tough negotiators, though, aiming to accumulate the most profit from Mbeumo, who joined during their Championship days.

Mbeumo is coming off his best season yet, netting 20 goals in the Premier League, and Ruben Amorim believes he would fit perfectly into the system he's trying to establish.

United are expected to make a third bid after their latest offer worth £62.5m - £55m plus £7.5m in add-ons - was rejected at the end of June.

According to the Daily Mail, the Old Trafford giants will propose a £65m deal, which they believe will meet Brentford's valuation of the player and finalise the transaction.

As United set the deadline to wrap up the transfer, the West London club have already started preparing for Mbeumo's exit.

Feyenoord attacking midfielder Antoni Milambo is set to join the club.

The Dutch Under-21 international is expected to sign for an initial £17m plus £4.25m in add-ons, agreeing to a long-term contract at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Brentford are waiting for the final results from Milambo's medical tests, but if all goes well, an official announcement is expected soon.

Milambo has also had extensive discussions with new boss Keith Andrews, who has just taken up the managerial role.

The Bees have a history of letting their top players go for the right price.

Last year saw Ivan Toney depart for a substantial fee, and other big names have been allowed to move on in the past, often netting the club a tidy profit.

United are prepared to push their spending over £120m, having already recruited Cunha for £62.5m.

The Brazilian's acquisition was made much simpler by a release clause in his Wolves contract, ensuring a smooth transaction.

Amorim is poised to continue his summer signings after any potential deal for Mbeumo, with a striker also on the club's radar.

United have missed out on Liam Delap, who has joined Chelsea, and it appears Viktor Gyokeres will choose another club as United search the market.
