Leeds United are eyeing a summer move for Hoffenheim midfielder Anton Stach, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Graham Smyth has claimed.
The Championship winners are looking to bring in a ball-winning midfielder to Daniel Farke’s squad this summer and have identified Stach as their ‘prime candidate’ on the market.
Leeds are aiming to add more physicality ahead of their Premier League return, and Stach fits the profile well, having shown an ability to win duels, read the game and dominate aerially in the Bundesliga.
Leeds are expecting competition for the 26-year-old’s signature this summer but have placed him high on the shortlist, alongside Wolfsburg defender Sebastiaan Bornauw, who is close to completing a £5m move.

Leeds have been busy in the summer transfer window so far, welcoming striker Lukas Nmecha and defender Jaka Bijol as their first two signings, and remain on the lookout for further reinforcements.
The Whites are also expected to bring in a new shot-stopper to replace Illan Meslier and have recently been linked with Newcastle ace Nick Pope, who has a year left on his contract.
According to Smyth, Leeds also have a strong interest in Lille left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson and have made steady progress on a deal for the Iceland international.
A move for Stach, meanwhile, would bring proven top-flight experience, as the German midfielder has over 120 Bundesliga appearances to his name from his time at Mainz and Hoffenheim.
The 6 ft 4 in 'giant', who was once likened to Arsenal superstar Declan Rice, made 39 appearances across all competitions last season, scoring two goals and providing two assists, including netting in the 3-2 defeat to Tottenham in the Europa League in January.
