Juventus reach agreement with Jonathan David, explains why 17-goal striker was offered in Jadon Sancho exchange deal

Manchester United are trying to add more goals to the team this summer.

After scoring just 44 league goals last season, the fifth-lowest in the top-flight and Manchester United’s worst return in the Premier League era, it’s no wonder Ruben Amorim has prioritised attacking additions in the transfer window.

United have signed Matheus Cunha from Wolves, and they are now moving to add Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo to the team. The two players had 37 Premier League goals between them last season, which would take some of the workload off Bruno Fernandes’ shoulders next season.

Ineos are confident United can strike a deal with Brentford for Mbeumo.

Amorim is also expected to add a striker to his squad before the new season begins. Rasmus Hojlund has struggled to provide the goals, and the Red Devils have been linked with an array of strikers, including Viktor Gyokeres and Ollie Watkins.

Juventus reach agreement with free agent Jonathan David

One player who has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a long time is Jonathan David.

The Canada striker left Lille as a free agent this summer, which inevitably led to links to several Premier League clubs, including United.

Many thought David was a no-brainer option due to United’s precarious financial situation. It was also noted that David was interested in a move, but it never materialised because Amorim and Ineos have other ideas.

The Canadian is set to travel for medical tests, with formal steps to follow.

This is one of the potential options United had that they won’t be signing this summer.

United fans will be eager to find out who they will sign to make up for it, but there is no denying that the club did their homework on David.

The 25-year-old has been on United’s radar for a very long time, but it never looked like he was a top target for Amorim this summer.

Reports suggest David’s agents set high demands for commission, which were off-putting for United.

This is what tends to happen when players run down their contracts and become free agents.

Juventus offer Dusan Vlahovic to Man Utd

Juventus have been linked with a move for Jadon Sancho this summer.

While talks take place over a deal, Juventus are trying to find alternative ways to reach an agreement.

United have been offered three players in exchange for Sancho, including striker Dusan Vlahovic, who we can now see why Juventus are trying to offload.

Vlahovic scored 17 goals in 44 appearances for Juventus last season.

They will have a new striker soon, with David set to arrive at the club.
