Leeds United are still exploring a move for Lyon shot-stopper Lucas Perri. It is understood the Brazilian is on their shortlist of transfer targets as the Whites look to upgrade their goalkeeping department before the big kick-off.
Although United are monitoring the situation, Daniel Farke's side have yet to make a concrete approach for Perri. Reports in France say Monaco are also considering entering the race to sign Perri. Monaco are expected to be in the market for a new goalkeeper, with neither Philipp Köhn nor Radoslaw Majecki convincing over the 2025/26 season.
Perri, who joined Lyon in January 2024 from Brazilian side Botafogo, is also reportedly attracting interest from Neom SC following their promotion to the Saudi Pro League. Neom have yet to table an offer for Perri, according to French newspaper L’Équipe.
Given Lyon's ongoing financial difficulties, Perri could be available in a cut-price deal this summer. The French club have been relegated to Ligue 2 following their failure to clear outstanding debts. Perri's contract with Lyon runs until the summer of 2028.
Farke is eager to bring in a new goalkeeper following Illan Meslier's struggles last term. Meslier was dropped for Wales international Karl Darlow in April after a string of high-profile blunders during the promotion run-in. Farke's decision paid off as the Whites won six of their last seven matches to win the Championship title.
James boost
Exciting forward Daniel James has committed his future to United by agreeing a new long-term contract, according to The Telegraph. The Wales international, an influential figure in United's title-winning season, had a year left on his previous Elland Road deal.
But Telegraph journalist Mike McGrath says James has now agreed a new four-year contract. The 27-year-old was a standout performer for the Whites in the 2024/25 campaign. He made the right wing spot his own as Farke's troops picked up 100 points to nick in first position ahead of Burnley on goal difference. James enjoyed the best season of his career, hitting 12 goals and providing a string of assists. His impressive contribution saw him named the club's player of the season.
With crowd favourite Manor Solomon having returned to Tottenham Hotspur following his stellar loan spell, United are expected to freshen up their wing options over the coming weeks. Farke currently has James, Wilfried Gnonto, Jack Harrison and Largie Ramazani to choose from on the flanks.
