There is no shortage of top players who would love to join FC Barcelona if they could. Unfortunately, however, every top club has limited places to offer and every team has their own respective budget. Thus, for Barcelona, both of those things have to be managed accordingly.
With a competitive squad already at the disposal of Hansi Flick, the German coach simply needs the right missing pieces. As of right now, most reports seem to agree that the position where Flick needs a new recruit is that of the left-winger position.
Barcelona still linked to Nico Williams and Luis Diaz

In that context, two names that have been regularly linked to Barcelona recently have been Nico Williams and Luis Diaz. Belonging to Athletic Club and Liverpool respectively, both wingers have their own strengths to offer and Barcelona is reportedly linked to both of them for now.
Even though reports have recently claimed that Nico Williams seems to be the likely choice for Barcelona, Luis Diaz is not completely out of the picture apparently. In fact, a recent report even suggested that the player’s camp was still in contact with the Catalan club.
Dani Olmo speaks about both wingers
Interestingly, Barça player Dani Olmo was recently spoken to and was asked about both players independently. As highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, the 27-year-old Spaniard first spoke about Luis Diaz and was asked to reveal more about their recent interaction in Ibiza:
“If we talked about it, I’m keeping it to myself — it was a private conversation. I didn’t know him before, but he’s a great person. He’s a world-class talent, and at Barça, the best have to be here. He’s proven it. He’s top-tier both as a forward and as a winger — no doubt about that.”

That is undoubtedly some high praise, and it just goes to show that Olmo seems to rate the Colombian winger highly. However, he also praised Nico Williams when asked about his fellow Spaniard, and believes that he belongs to that same group of elite players that should join Barcelona:
“Nico is another example. I don’t know anything specific. We’ve spoken over the holidays. He’s a top player, but we have to respect that he’s not a Barça player. At Barça, the best should play. Nico is a great footballer — he’s proven it with his club and the national team. We already know how well he’d fit in. I like playing with the best.”
Moving forward, there is no telling which player ends up joining the club until and unless things are made official. Interestingly, however, Olmo also spoke about potential registration issues recently and reassured Nico Williams if he still possibly has any sort of doubts regarding Barça’s ability to register their players.
