Ashley Young could be in line to land a player-coach role at Aston Villa.
The ex-England international is currently a free agent after departing Everton at the end of his contract at Goodison Park.
As things stand, the 39-year-old is without a club, something which could see yet another return to Villa Park become more likely.
This could soon see the full-back complete a move to the Midlands to take up a role in the squad ahead of a campaign in the Europa League.

There aren’t many players who garner as much love and respect as the former Watford man despite initially leaving B6 in 2011.

It is fair to say that the Englishman has gone on to be successful elsewhere, winning a number of titles with both Manchester United and Inter Milan.

That experience could prove to be excellent for Unai Emery’s squad, moving into a season where expectations are bound to be high.
Although sources have downplayed Young’s links to Aston Villa, former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen believes a move could still be on the cards.
Speaking exclusively to Villa News, Allen said: “In a Europa League season, you need a lot of players because you will notice after midweek games, results often drop off.
“People say, ‘They should be able to play two games a week.’ I don’t know the answer to that, but it does happen, and it will happen.
“To get Young in, even if he only plays 10 games, he would be a good signing.
“He’s a really decent bloke, to play at his age in the Premier League, he’s looked after himself well.
“*To help as a member of staff as well, I think he would be a really good signing.*“

Young could now confirm Aston Villa return
There would be very little opposition to the return of the ex-winger if he were to agree to a free transfer in B6.
This could prove to be the perfect news for someone like Andres Garcia, who could certainly learn a thing or two from the versatile defender.
It is fair to say that this would also be the case for defenders in the academy, as Young possesses amazing levels of experience and successful moments to speak of.
As it stands, it is unclear whether a move is on the cards, but it does appear that the positives outweigh any issues with a potential deal.
