Manchester United's Harry Maguire has offered up a glimpse behind the curtain at his pre-season preparations as he trains with teammate Rasmus Hojlund. The England international had raved over the striker - during a period of uncertainty surrounding 22-year-old's future at Old Trafford.

Hojlund scored just four goals in the Premier League, last season, after failing to steer United away from one of their worst top-flight campaigns in over 50 years. The Dane struggled up front with his strike partner, Joshua Zirkzee, suffering an equally difficult showing in the Premier League following his move from Serie A side Bologna.

In recent weeks, Hojlund has been the subject of speculation over a return to Serie A following reports that Inter Milan and Napoli were weighing up a move for United's £72million striker.

Neither a switch to Milan nor a transfer to Naples has come to fruition for Hojlund and with pre-season around the corner, he continues to step up his preparations in order to compete for a place in Ruben Amorim's first-team plans.

Maguire posted a preview of their efforts on social media - and raved about his United's teammate's showing on the training ground.

Taking to Instagram, he posted a video on his Instagram story showing Hojlund stepping up his going through his paces in some warm-weather training.

United are continuing their efforts to sign an attacker - with Portuguese head coach Amorim keen on adding more fire-power to his forward line. Matheus Cunha was the first man through the door at Old Trafford as his £62.5million release clause was triggered to bring him from Wolves.

Bryan Mbeumo is the next target but United have already had two offers rejected and are readying a third to land the talented Brentford attacker.

Despite the prospect of adding fresh blood to their arsenal, The Manchester Evening News reported, recently, that an out-and-out striker is still on the list of targets.

In acquiring a talismanic figure, Hojlund's place would come under scrutiny - with further competition injected into his position.
