One more member of the Brotherhood has made his free agency decision as Tre Jones will remain with the Chicago Bulls.
Jones, who was traded to the Bulls this past season, re-upped with Chicago for $24 million over three years.
Duke fans know the basics about Jones: he’s a superb defender and a solid all-around point guard who has never shot very well.
Well, maybe: this past season, Jones shot really well with the Bulls, hitting 50 percent of his threes and 57.2 percent overall.
He only took 22 threes, but hit half of those, so that’s an improvement, and his shooting stats aren’t actually that bad over the last few years.
Certainly it’s a sharp improvement over his 2021-22 season where he hit just 19.6 percent on his threes.
Retaining Jones has put the Bulls in a potentially interesting situation as Josh Giddey may opt to go elsewhere. The Aussie is 6-8 which is great to have in a point guard, but the Bulls chose to sign Jones first, and that says a lot. That says he’s their priority.
