**Newcastle United could be presented with another opportunity to bag one of the U21 European Championships' star performers after Harvey Elliott declared his desire to leave Liverpool.**
It doesn't matter how talented you are as a youngster; it can be extremely difficult to break into the first eleven of a high-flying Premier League side, and that's what's happened to both Harvey Elliott at Liverpool and James McAtee at Manchester City.
Both have what it takes to star in most Premier League clubs, but the competition for places where they are is too fierce, and in order to progress, they need to be somewhere where they can play regularly.
McAtee and Elliott have both shown what they can do at the U21 Euros, lifting the trophy with England, with McAtee captaining the side and Elliott picking up the Player of the Tournament.

Harvey Elliott and James McAtee both want moves to further their careers
James McAtee and Harvey Elliott are both set to be available this summer
------------------------------------------------------------------------
Both players have been looked at by Newcastle United as they look to add squad depth, and now [Football Insider claims that McAtee has joined Elliott in deciding it's best for his career to move](https://www.footballinsider247.com/exclusive-james-mcatee-makes-transfer-decision-after-newcastle-and-fulham-updates/) on this summer.
Liverpool want £50 million for Elliott, which many Toon fans have deemed way too high, and we can't imagine that McAtee would come much cheaper.
Neither feels like they're worth anywhere near that type of fee yet, but being young and English always adds a premium to the fee, and as far as the selling clubs are concerned, they're losing a potential future first-team star, so they want to be compensated properly.
We can't see Newcastle going for either player
----------------------------------------------
We are fans of both players here at the _FEED,_ but we're not sure we see the club making a move for either unless they are confident they can get a good deal.
There isn't really a place for McAtee or Elliott in Newcastle's starting lineup as things stand either, so while they would get an increase in minutes playing for Newcastle, neither would be automatic first-team picks, which they could be at many other Premier League clubs.
Both players have played down the right flank for club and country, but it's not a natural position for either.
There are many other targets and bigger priorities to sort out before we look at the likes of these two, unfortunately.
